EnsenadaThe site was discovered in 1542 by a Portuguese explorer, Juan Rodriguezs Cabrillo, who named this land "San Mateo". Later in the year 1602, Sebastián Vizacaíno, arrived to this land on a 2nd day of November, day in which Mexico Celebrates the day of the dead or of All Saints. For this reason, he named the site "Todos los Santos". The bay still preserves that name. The city of Ensenada is located at 100 km south of the Border with the United States. The city has an approximate population of 260,000 people and it is the largest municipality in the world in terms if its extension. Ensenada is one of the oldest cities in Baja Caliornia, and its proximity with the United States makes it an attractive destination for cruise ships coming from the California area. One of the largest marine geysers in the world, known as "la bufadora", is located a few kilometers south of town. A small islend to the west of Ensenada, Todos los Santos, is one of the best known surfing spots in the world. The Guadalupe Valley, in the outskirts of Ensenada is one of the main spots of wine production in the country. Some magnificent vineyard landscapes can be appreciated in this region.
