Los CabosSan José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas (Known together as Los cabos) are one of Mexico's main tourist destinations. During the Year 1841, A Japanese boat, the Eiju Maru, was surprised by a storm when it suddenly lost track of its way. The boat spent 120 days lost in the middle of the Pacific Ocean when it was found by a Spanish Boat who took its crew towards Cabo San Lucas. The chronicle of this trip can be found in the book Kaigai Ibun, written by Hatsutaro Okasaki, one of the members of the Eiuju Maru's crew. On arrival to Mexico, Hatsutaro and some of the crew members were "adopted" by Mexican families, who taught them some Mexican customs. Hatsutaro later returned to Japan, but his chronicle is certainly a fascinating narration of Mexican life in the XIXth century. From San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas a wide strip of tourist facilities extend on nearly 33 km of distance. In here, the traveler will be able to find one of the most important tourist developments in the country. On the 19th of March, you will be able the "Santo Patrono Festivities", in which the local people gather to dance and celebrate with fireworks.
