San Miguel de Allende
The place was originally founded by in the year 1542 by the Franciscan monk Juan de San Miguel, who named the site "San Miguel el Grande". The town was an important site on the silver route, who connected with the city of Zacatecas. The city changed its name to San Miguel de Allende in honor to the national independence hero Ignacio Allende, who was born in the place.
San Miguel de Allende is famous worldwide for its colonial architecture, its thermal waters, and its weather. These characteristics have made San Miguel de Allende home to a large number of foreign residents, who decide to make this town their home.
