The MichiliaThe Biosphere reserve of The Michilia is located at southeastern part of the state of Durango. It comprises a total area of 70,000 ha, out of which 7,000 are formed by the "Cerro Blanco" or "White Mountain". The zone is mainly characterised by its vegetation of pine forest and natural grasslands. The canyons and valleys of the Michilia make it an exceptional place for hiking, and excursioning. Among some of the main species that live in this natural reserve, we can find: The white tail deeer, the Puma, the coyote and the wild hog. Another interesting place to visit is Tamazula, located at 239 Km west of Santiago Papasquiaro, close to the State of Sinaloa. Besides some astonishing natural rock walls, here you will be able to find the rests of an old chapel of the XVIIIth century dedicated to San Ignacio de Loyola. Interested in visiting this place?
