Zacatecas

The city of Zacatecas was founded in the year 1546, when silver mines were discovered in its surrounding areas. This land used to be ihabited by the Chichimeca tribes, which were known particularly for their agressive behaviour. The Chichimecas were one of the few tribes that could not be conquered by the Aztec or Mexica Empire.

Zacatecas historical centre has preserved its colonial beauty without being influenced by the modern infrastructure of the 21st century. The city counts with great monuments of religious and civil architecture, and its museums hold some unique collections of arts and crafts.

This historical battle traced a unique precedent that would impact on the whole nation.
