Itinerary:
Drive across the route from Mexico City over Oaxaca and Chiapas to the Yucatan Peninsulla. Get to know the fascinating Mayan cities, charming colonial towns and some of Mexico’s most impressive natural wonders.

Day 1.
Arrival to Mexico City, pick up from the airport and transfer to your Hotel in Mexico City’s historical Center.

Day 2. Mexico City
Visit to Mexico City’s cultural sites: Templo Mayor Museum, where the ancient ruins of the Aztec City of Tenochtitlan can still be appreciated, the Mexico City Cathedral and Mexico City’s Anthropology museum.

Day 3. Teotihuacán and Basílica de Guadalupe

On this day, you will get a chance to visit the Teotihuacán Pyramids. Teotihuacán’s history is quite mysterious, the site dates back to the year 200 B.C. and it was named by the Aztecs centuries after the city fell. Its original name is unknown, and its modern name in Nahuatl means “City of the Gods”.
Afterwards, you will travel back to Mexico City for a visit to the “Basilica de Guadalupe”, Mexico’s most visited church known particularly for the cult to the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Day 4. Mexico City – Cholula – Puebla
Depart Cuernavaca for Cholula. Cholula is an archeological site whose main pyramid holds the Guinness world record for the biggest pyramid built in the world. The pyramid is even bigger than the Keops Pyramid in Egypt (Though the Egyptian pyramid is taller).
After visiting Cholula, you will transfer in the Afternoon to Puebla, a city whose historical center has been declared a UNESCO World heritage site due to its architectural colonial designs.

Day 5. Puebla – Oaxaca

After having breakfast in Puebla, you will depart towards Mexico’s southern mountain range to the city of Oaxaca. Oaxaca’s charm relies in its indigenous traditions and its colonial buildings. Oaxaca is the region in Mexico with the largest ethnic and linguistic diversity in the country, 18 of the 62 different Mexican ethic groups live in the state.

Day 6. Oaxaca - Monte Alban
Visit to Montealban’s ruins. The Zapotecos left in the city of Montealban a fabulous trace if their culture. The city was constructed between the years 500 b.c. and 100 b.c. and it acquired an important status among the region. The city gradually lost its influence from the year 800 a.d. until 1325 a.d. when it was invaded by the Mixtecos.

Day 7. Oaxaca – Tehuantepec

Depart Oaxaca for a visit to the Tule Tree. A tree who is over 2000 years old, and one of Mexico’s greatest Natural Wonders. You will continue your ride towards the Mixtec city of Mitla, after which you will enjoy an impressive ride through the highlands towards the tropic land of Tehuantepec.
Overnight in Tehuantepec.
Day 8. Tehuantepec – San Cristobal de las Casas
After departing Tehuantepec, you will head east through the Mexican Southern Mountain Range towards Tuxtla Gutierrez and San Cristobal de las Casas. On the road, you will have a chance to take a boatride through the impressive Sumidero Canyon.

Day 9. San Cristóbal de las Casas – Montebello Lagoons – San Cristóbal de las Casas
You will make a daytrip today towards the forests surrounding the Guatemalan border, Your first stop will be at the mighty waterfalls of el Chiflón, afterwards you will enter the Natural reserve of the Montes Azules, where you will have a chance to appreciate the Montebello Lagoons.

Day 10. San Cristóbal de las Casas - Palenque
The scenery in today’s route is very diverse. You will depart from the Mexican highlands towards the tropical jungle, where you will have a chance to visit the Misol-Ha Waterfalls, which are over 40 meters tall.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Palenque ruins. Palenque’s origins date back to the 5th and 9th century. It is known that it was one of the main cities of the time, along with Toniná, Calakmul, Pomoná, Comalcalco, Tikal and Copán.

Day 11. Palenque - Campeche

You will depart today towards the city of Campeche. During the XVIth and XVIIth century, the city was assaulted by Pirates in the region, which forced the spanish crown to built a defense system formed by large walls, forts and other ancient military equipment. Campeche's historical centre and its old neighborhoods are considered a UNESCO world heritage site.

Day 12. Campeche – Uxmal - Merida
Morning departure towards Uxmal, a traditional ancient Maya city typical of the Puuc Style whose dominance extended to the nearby towns of Sayil, Kabah, Xlapak and Labná. you will have a chance to appreciate the pyramid of the Magician, the largest Mayan temple in the Puuc Zone and The Nunnery Quadrangle which is the finest of Uxmal's several quadrangles of long buildings with elaborately carved façades.
Continue in the afternoon towards the capital of Yucatan, Merida. The dominant metropolitan center in the Yucatan Peninsulla.

Day 13. Merida – Chichen Itza – Playa del Carmen

Depart Merida towards the world-Famous Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, a UNESCO world heritage site. A large part of the archeological site has been excavated and restored. You will appreciate some of the most important Mayan temples like The Kukulcan Pyramid, the Chac Mool Temple, the ball game field and the temple of the thousand columns.
Overnight in Playa del Carmen
Day 14. Playa del Carmen - Riviera Maya
After a long journey, you will get a chance to relax at the turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean.
Airport transfer to return home, or optional extended stay at the Riviera Maya.
You can also do further individual visits to the Mayan ruins of Tulum and Cobá in the region.
