Cacahuamilpa Caves
Discovered in the year 1834, the Cacahuamilpa caves are qmong the most impressive cave systems in the world. The Cachuamilpa Caves are an astonishing sight due to their extension and variety of shapes. Approximately 2 km are opened to the public, and the site is located on the top of other caverns where underground rivers flow.
The "Grand Cave" counts with 27 rooms, and their heights fluctuate between 24 and 85 mts. The site is illuminated with electricity, which makes the sight in the caves very attractive. Close to the caves, the mouth of the rivers San Jerónimo and Chotancoatlán can be found emerging from the underground. During the dry season, this caves can be visited with the appropiate equipment.
