ManzanilloManzanillo is known as the world capital of the sailfish. The name of the town comes from the abundance of the "Manzanilla Tree", which used to be widespread across the region during the XVIth century. During prehispanic times, Manzanillo used to be named "Cozcatlan" or "Necklace Place" Thre name "Sailfish world Capital" comes from the IVth International Sailfish tournament, which was held in this town. During the tournament, 336 sailfishes were captured, and an International record was set. Manzanillo is today the largest port in the Pacific Coast. Due to its location, it is the main point of entrance for goods coming from Asia, and it counts with some astonishing beaches, such as Playa Santiago, Playa La Audiencia, Playa Miramar, Playa las Brisas, among others.
