Maruata
Isolated Beaches where time seems to have stopped, the Pacific coast of the State of Michoacán is home to some fabulous spots for the traveller looking to get away from the big cities and Hotels. Maruata is only one of these fabulous places where the leatherback, or laud turtle nests.
The Laud turtle begins its nesting season in November, it is the largest sea turtle that exists today, and the female turtle can put between 50 and 170 eggs in one nest. Its approximate weight is of 500 kg, and some of these giants can wieght up to 800.
If you are thinking of going to Maruata, please notice that there aren't any Hotels in the area. The traveller should stay in tents, and food can be purchased from the local fishermen, who have small family-owned restaurants in the site.
